Dream Car.

I love cars, and am fascinated by all the makes and models out there but the Volkswagon Westfalia Vanagon has a special place in my heart! After doing a short trip up the California coastline in college and seeing many of these, it was westy love at first site.

This thing is a road trip, camping machine! Probably not the best daily driver, but a great option for those with a sense of adventure. This vehicle sleeps four and comes with a stove, fridge and sink. The top pops up into a tent where two people sleep up top and two on bottom.

I’d love to get my hands on an oldie and restore it. As a matter of fact, I was super close to buying one of these but my dad had a mechanic look at it, the guy said it would need about 3k in repairs. Most of them these days are in need of repair, popularly some replace the engine with a Subaru engine.

Perhaps someday I can get my hands on  one and have a restoration project on my hands. Would love to do long weekend trips in the TX hill country in one of these things!

VW made a similar model called a Syncro, this one is 4 wheel drive but a very limited edition, pricey and almost impossible to get your hands on. I’d settle for just a plain Westy, they are very neat set ups.
