Hey fellow youth workers, my name is Chris. I’m the writer, creator, and networker for this blog on the unique niche we know as youth ministry. I grew up in Austin, TX – home of artists, hippies, BBQ, and live music.
Graduating from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago was a tremendous accomplishment for me. I was the first person on either side of my family to attend and graduate from college. I graduated with a B.A. in Evangelism/Discipleship & Biblical Studies.
My internships at Hill Country Bible Church in Austin and Wheaton Bible Church in the suburbs of Chicago were instrumental in developing a foundation for vocational ministry outside the classroom.
After getting my feet wet in ministry while living in Chicago & marrying the love of my life Calla, I moved back to Austin to accept the position of student pastor at Gateway Church. I oversee 6-12 grade and dabble a bit in the college ministry world. I love working alongside others that make up the NextGen team, we work with and for each other to provide the best experience for families at our church.
My personality and ministry could be summed up in the word “strategical”, I love thinking through all options to come up with the best one, while yet maintaining a level head of practicality. I spend my free time doing yard work with my chickens. Early on I developed a great passion for the outdoors with the Texas Hill Country being only minutes away. It’s my dream to one day own a small piece of this great land. I love DIY projects and working with my hands. I have a beard and am always ready to talk youth ministry with others…let’s talk!
Here are some easy ways keep up with what’s going on:
